Prized Auction Item at Bice Tonight: Aspen Getaway

Organizers of tonight’s “Friends of Haiti” fundraiser at Palm Beach’s Bice—“bartenders” for the eve include Haiti relief-effort supporters Fi Stephenson, Ryan Hernandez and Michael Capponi—say reservations are in the hundreds, with comers traveling from as far away as Miami.

Features of the cocktail-time affair (see “The Dish” posting of a few days ago) include live and silent auctions—and the most expensive item on the block, a last-minute addition, came down the pike from one of the event’s organizers.

It’s a week or two weeks’ stay in a luxury three-bedroom condo with full hotel service at The Ritz-Carlton Club, Aspen Highlands, Colorado. The value: $8,000-$10,000, depending on the dates.

The Ritz-Carlton Club is located at the foot of the 12,500-foot Aspen Highlands Mountain. Think stunning views and 125 trails.

This being “The Dish” and all, the club’s flagship restaurant is called Willow Creek Bistro; the fare has a decidedly southern slant.

Elk isn’t on the regular menu anymore (as it was a while back when Chef Jami Flatt was there). Chef Matt Skaletsky’s lineup ranges from seared halibut and lamb T-bones to fried oyster po’boy, fried catfish, shrimp and grits (with the good stuff—Anson Mills grits) and babyback ribs.

Should your bid for the Aspen week win tonight, bon appetit at Willow Creek Bistro.
